Cardio Arts

The Workout Packs a Punch!

AMAFA’s Cardio Arts program promotes excellent health and fitness through a full body workout that employs both cardiovascular and strength training.

The eclectic curriculum is taught in three levels and a boot camp that draws on a vast catalog of training methods and techniques from several martial arts, yoga, kickboxing, boxing, aerobics and weight lifting. Cardio Arts has the added benefit of teaching self-defense techniques and drills. Safety is a priority, and no contact is allowed in beginner classes. Instructors teach to upbeat music, and students sweat in comfortable clothes.

Workouts can burn an average of 500—and up to 1,000—calories, but all participants work at their own pace and see fitness benefits within a few classes. All active cardio workouts help to relieve stress and tension with a healthy outlet. This class will develop and extend your flexibility, coordination and balance. Each of the three levels is progressively challenging, and the morning boot camp helps kickstart your metabolism and spiritual energy that can lead to a more energetic, productive and balanced day.

Mighty Tigers

The Joy of Movement

Ananda Martial Arts & Fitness Academy teaches Mighty Tigers classes that offer a developmentally appropriate and fun curriculum to help children 3 to 6 engage in the joy of movement through organized activities and play. The Mighty Tigers class channels children’s natural urges to run, jump, roll, cartwheel and yell into a lively program where children learn to explore their growing bodies. Children learn blocks, kicks, strikes, basic calisthenics, and multiple-step routines. A centerpiece of the class is the AMAFA Mighty Tiger Animal Exercises, which includes a range of exercises from A to Z to captivate any child and challenge any adult. AMAFA’s curriculum teaches and reinforces entry-level educational concepts, including colors, numbers, counting, letters, directions, shapes, item recognition and more. Classes reinforce both individual and group performance. Safety is a priority, and contact is strictly regulated.Discipline is the ability to make good choices. Classes are structured so children know what is expected and can revel in displaying the self-regulation and impulse control necessary to achieve familiar tasks. Children also need an outlet for improvisational energy, so each class includes directed free play. From start to finish, the Mighty Tigers class is pure fun!

Taekwondo

The Art of the Smashing Hand and Foot

Korean martial arts masters developed Taekwondo as an empty-hand form of self-defense and sport that uses linear techniques, such as direct blocks, kicks and strikes. Taekwondo is known for its devastating kicking techniques, which include jumping, spinning, flying—and sometimes all three. Classes also explore history, culture geography and philosophy. Martial arts offers some of the most challenging workouts available, and develops excellent health and fitness through both cardiovascular and strength training. Hapkido is known for using minimum power for maximum affect, particularly with joint locks where slight movements can immobilize a larger and stronger opponent. Classes also explore history, culture geography and philosophy. Martial arts offers some of the most challenging workouts available, and develops excellent health and fitness through both cardiovascular and strength training. The AMAFA curriculum is taught in beginner, intermediate and advanced classes, and through a boot camp. Safety is a priority, and contact is strictly regulated.
